Industrial Trail
The Industrial Trail in the Zurich Oberland explores the history of industrialization in the region.
On the Industrial Trail, visitors can explore the history of industrialization in the region.
The invention of the spinning machine laid the foundations for the mechanization of the textile industry – and with it, the Industrial Revolution. This led to social restructuring – but also widespread dissatisfaction among the workers. Nevertheless, industrialization continued to take hold. Industrial sites sprang up, comprising factories, auxiliary buildings, villas with large gardens for the industrialists and cottages for the workers.
The Industrial Trail explores this development. Visitors can follow the route on their own or as part of a tour.
