What is there to discover?
Nature experiences: Meadows, forests, vineyards, the little Ausee lake, and a location right on Lake Zurich: a hike over the Au peninsula is varied and perfect for anyone looking for a little bit of peace and quiet in the countryside. Those who can’t wait to dive into the water will also find a little bathing beach on the lake.
Winemaking museum: From April to October, the Weinbaumuseum (winemaking museum) is open to visitors every Sunday. An exhibition in the historic barn illustrates winemaking in the past and present and offers an insight into its influence on the region.
Landgasthof: After a hike across the peninsula, visitors can refuel at this cozy country inn with a play area. Those who wish to can also stay overnight.
Château: In 1928, the château was built on the site of a previous building from the 17th century. Concerts regularly take place in the château’s hall.
What’s the best way of getting there?
Train: From Zurich Main Station, the S-Bahn to Au ZH takes 26 minutes. From there, it is approximately a 10-minute walk to the peninsula.
Boat: Traveling by boat is a particularly lovely way to get to the Au peninsula: from Bürkliplatz, it takes approximately 70 minutes.
Car: The island can also be reached by car. Parking is available at the inn.
